Reebok StadiumAs we wrote back in 2012, Bolton Wanderers managing company Burnded Leisure filed for a new project that should improve Reebok Stadium (soon to be renamed Macron Stadium). Now, after 1.5 years the plan is approved by the city council and may come to fruition.

The £100-million project won’t affect current capacity of the stadium, though will increase its main stand’s floor area by further 3,200 sqm of hospitality space.

Just outside the stadium much larger changes are expected: a sports college for 500 students, 28,000 sqm of commercial space including retail, office, leisure space and a hotel, along with some 200 apartments will be created.

In a report prior to the meeting, planning officers said: "The development would provide much needed investment and employment opportunities together with improvements to education, leisure and wider community facilities in an urban setting and in a sustainable location."
