It’s been rumoured for quite some time that one of Europe’s most famous football temples will gain a sponsored phrase in its name. A few days ago president Florentino Perez confirmed that Real is indeed considering a naming rights deal.

Today El Confidencial reports that negotiations are ongoing with Microsoft. The company has been Real’s partner in an educational program in Latin America and the Caribbean. Microsoft is already taking part in technological improvements at Santiago Bernabeu.

It’s too early to name specific sums or timeframe of the potential naming rights deal, but it is understood both companies would benefit from a longer contract most, also making this possibly one of the most lucrative naming rights deals in Europe.

What is clear is that the name Santiago Bernabeu will be retained in honour of the club’s legendary president and may only be joined by a sponsored phrase.
