Brazil: Stadium in Salvador late by 2 months It was due to be delivered in December, but won't be ready by the end of February. Organizers argue it's caused by FIFA regulations, but it seems far-fetched, to say the least. Still, work is going forward with significant pace.

Arena Fonte Nova was set for opening in 2012 from the start, though was initially hoped to open in Autumn, then switched to late December. But it's January 2013 already and the construction site has only now passed the 85% progress mark All this despite a massive number 0f 4,050 people on the project, working 22 hours a day.

The deadline won't be exceeded too much, though, with delivery scheduled for February 28 in latest plans. Covering the arena and installation of the distinctive azure-coloured seats are the most visible changes happening now.

Most installation works are already done, with testing already in progress. Companies leasing commercial and catering facilities are preparing to move in. Seperate tests will be ran by FIFA as part of preparations for the 2013 Confederation Cup.

Organizing Committee argues the delay is caused by changes in FIFA's guidelines, but those consider mostly the pitch, while nearly every element of the ground is delayed.
