Estadio Félix Castillo Tardío – stadium description

The city of Chincha Alta, located less than 200 km south of Lima, was one of the areas most affected by the tragic earthquake that occurred on August 15, 2007. The stadium was also damaged and subsequently demolished, leaving the city without a main sports venue.

Construction of a new stadium did not begin until 2022. The new facility was planned on the site of its predecessor but was designed to be significantly larger and more modern.

The project was overseen and funded by the Gobierno Regional de Ica (Regional Government of Ica), with a total cost exceeding 76 million Peruvian soles. After completion, the stadium was handed over to the municipality of Chincha Alta.

The stadium was fully completed in 2025, and its inauguration took place on July 25, 2025. The opening was officiated by the governor of the Ica region, Jorge Hurtado, and the highlight of the event was a veterans’ match between Alianza Lima and the Chincha Selection.

On December 21, 2025, the Peru national team played for the first time at the new stadium, defeating Bolivia 2–0 in a friendly match. Earlier, on October 28, 2025, the Peru women’s national team also made its debut at the stadium, losing 0–3 in a friendly against Panama.

The stadium is equipped with an athletics track and oval reinforced-concrete stands with a capacity of over 14,000 spectators, partially covered by a membrane roof. Four floodlight masts stand at the corners of the facility.

The stadium is named after Félix Castillo Tardío, one of the most famous footballers from Chincha Alta, a longtime Alianza Lima player, and a national team representative in the 1940s and 1950s. The stadium is located about 1.5 km north of the city center.
