Steelyard – stadium description

This Benue is of special meaning to football in South Korea. When built in 1990, it was the only football-specific stadium and to date remains the one with stands closest to the field of play. Shortest distance between fans and grass surrounding the pitch is just 3 meters. From the very beginning of existence this ground is home to Pohang Steelers.

Though the reinforced concrete stands show its age, the arena is constantly being improved. Seats were changed back in the 1990’s, then came a giant screen in the North, new speakers, surveillance and signage systems and in 2010 even new substitute benches and roof painting.
