Stadion Kanjuruhan – stadium description
Malang’s main stadium had a long construction process that started back in 1997 and finished in 2004. The outcome is very modest, but so was the budget estimated at IDR 35 bln (app. $4,5 mln). Single-tiered stands encircle the pitch and an athletics track and can take up to 35,000 people. This is official information, but it’s still only an estimate as only the main stand was equipped with seats.
On the other side of the pitch, under the large scoreboard, fans called Aremania gather to support their team. They are thought to be among the largest fanbases in Indonesia. Though the ground seems sufficient in every-day use, it’s filled well above capacity in top games.
