Stadion Stanovi – stadium description
The ground was built in 1979 as part of preparations for Split Mediterranean Games. That’s when administrative building now used by NK Zadar was built. Ground’s largest stand, on south-eastern side, was erected in 1994.
In 2008 a tragedy took place when two young players got into a fight and one of them, Hrvoje Ćustić, hit the concrete wall of north-western side stand with his head. He died in hospital, resulting in the whole stand being dismantled along with the controversial wall that was subject to concerns even before the incident.
Along with this the field was moved towards the south-eastern stand, leaving space for a training pitch on north side. To date the dismantled stand hasn’t been rebuilt.
