Oasis and Man City a special relationship
Manchester is divided into two parts: red and blue. This rivalry also extends into music –The Stone Roses are associated with the Red Devils, while on the side of The Citizens stands the legendary Oasis.
The Gallagher brothers’ band has shown its support for Manchester City since its formation in 1991, often acting as an unofficial global ambassador for the club. It is worth remembering that before the takeover by Sheikh Mansour, City were a typical yo-yo
club, regularly moving between the Premier League and the Championship. Many people only became aware of the club through Oasis, long before it became the Champions League winners in 2023. The band’s influence on football could also be seen – or, better said, heard – during this year’s World Cup, where Wonderwall – a song frequently sung at City matches – became one of the favourite chants among English fans.
In recent years, the mutual admiration between both sides has developed into a partnership. During the 2024/25 season, Noel Gallagher helped create a shirt that brought together both the team and the band. As a result, fans received what many considered one of the most beautiful Manchester City shirts in history, which became the club’s best-selling shirt ever during its first week on sale. It became clear that cooperation between two of the most important symbols of northern England’s capital could be highly beneficial for both sides.

A concert that could break records
We have now learned that next year, exactly two years after the Oasis’ reunion tour, The Citizens will welcome the band to the Etihad Stadium for as many as 12 nights. According to The Sun, starting in June 2027, the arena will be available to the Gallagher brothers for six weeks. In addition, the band will also perform six shows at Knebworth.
There has been no official announcement yet, and it is most likely to arrive in August. Ticket registration is expected to begin in the final quarter of the year. The tour is estimated to generate tens of millions of pounds for the city’s economy – which is hardly surprising considering the results of their previous tour, which became the second highest-grossing concert tour in the world in 2025, losing only to Beyoncé’s tour.
Oasis’ tour will join a list of major artists such as Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Taylor Swift, who have previously performed at the Etihad. The stadium’s ability to host concerts again comes after a temporary pause in live entertainment events caused by the expansion of the Etihad Stadium’s North Stand, which added an additional 7,900 seats.
This means the stadium could potentially host around 75,000 people for a concert when the entire pitch area is used. The current single-night attendance record at the Etihad belongs to Take That, whose concert attracted around 55,000 fans.
