Spain: First match at Camp Nou to be played without away fans

The upcoming Saturday match at 16:15 between Barcelona and Athletic Club — the official competitive debut of the new Spotify Camp Nou — will be held without the traditional ticket allocation for visiting supporters. The club explains that the decision is due to logistical and safety reasons related to the current state of construction at the stadium.

No possibility of creating a safe away section
Under the current 1B operating license, it is not possible to guarantee the level of separation and crowd-flow control required for away supporters, nor the minimum safety conditions for an organised visiting group. The available entrances and exits at Spotify Camp Nou do not allow the creation of independent circulation routes for both sets of fans, and the necessary structures to safely isolate an away end are still incomplete.
FC Barcelona notes that the relevant construction works are already underway and will be completed in the coming weeks, enabling the reception of away fans in future fixtures. The decision comes as a disappointment for Athletic Club, whose 468 socios had entered the draw for the right to purchase tickets while waiting for the allotted away allocation from Barcelona.
