The match against the European champions will be held at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys because Spotify Camp Nou is unlikely to be ready in time. City authorities have emphasized that spectator safety is the top priority, and until it can be fully guaranteed, the stadium will not be allowed to host matches. In response, the club has started preparing its old home ground for the game.

FC Barcelona would like to thank its members and fans for their understanding and support throughout such a complex and exciting process as the return to the new Spotify Camp Nou. read the official statement. Contingency plan – two different stadiums

The group stage matches of the Champions League are set to be played at two different stadiums. The club has submitted a request to UEFA to begin playing at Montjuïc and then return to Camp Nou once the works are completed. UEFA is currently reviewing the proposal and will soon make a final decision. FC Barcelona stresses that the change of venue is not intended to gain any sporting advantage, but is solely due to construction delays. UEFA regulations are designed to prevent a situation where a team could benefit from switching stadiums, for example because of a better pitch condition or larger capacity.

Barcelona will try to convince UEFA, which has not rejected the proposal so far. The organization is analyzing the situation and will announce its decision soon, depending on progress at Camp Nou. After the PSG match, Barcelona’s next Champions League home game will be on 21 October against Olympiacos.
