Green surface in place
At Nou Camp Nou, the installation of the new turf has been completed. From now on, it will adapt and mature to reach optimal conditions by September. While it will still be some time before the ball rolls across the new grass, laying it early is a key step in preparations — ensuring the best possible surface by the time of the stadium’s inauguration.
The decision to install the pitch well in advance was made to allow enough time for it to take root naturally and adapt to the stadium's modern support systems. The new turf will now be closely monitored and maintained, allowing any issues to be addressed long before the team's return.
Preparations for september inauguration
The pitch installation process began on Wednesday, April 23, immediately following the completion of drainage, ventilation, air conditioning, and heating system installations — all crucial for maintaining perfect conditions on the field.
Meanwhile, construction work continues on the stadium’s overall structure. Once complete, the new Spotify Camp Nou will accommodate around 104,000 spectators, making it one of the largest football stadiums in the world. However, initially, only 60% of the full capacity will be open to the public.
