Everything should be ready by September 16 at the latest.
As a result, Barça has ruled out the possibility of the first team playing the upcoming Joan Gamper Trophy at Spotify Camp Nou. The tournament will take place in August, but the exact date has not been set. The club has informed Limak that the stadium should be ready to accommodate 60,000 spectators and host matches once it obtains the necessary safety and operating licenses from the authorities and law enforcement, no later than September 16, when the Champions League league phase begins. UEFA requires clubs to play all group stage matches at one stadium, and Barcelona, at least for now, does not plan to request again from the City Hall to use the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys for next season.
Those overseeing the construction works say that the pace of the project has significantly accelerated in recent weeks. This has largely been due to good cooperation with the city authorities, who allowed for 24-hour shifts during the week and recognized Saturdays as working days. The club expects this to continue during the summer to finalize the stadium adjustments.

A key decision – roof installation delayed
In order for Barça to return to Camp Nou in September, a crucial decision was also the one-year delay in the roof installation, which has now been rescheduled for May 2026. Typically, the roof is installed before the seating installation, but for this construction, a system has been developed that will ensure the seats are not damaged by temporary structures holding the cables for the roof, for which the Limak company is responsible. The roof installation could take about four and a half months, although Barcelona is considering accelerating the process to avoid delaying the start of the 2026/27 season.
