Spain: Barça denies reports of November return to Camp Nou FC Barcelona's return to Spotify Camp Nou remains one of the biggest uncertainties. Renovation work on the stadium is progressing, but its current state makes it difficult to believe that the Blaugrana could play any match there in just two months.

Barça engages in talks on multiple fronts

Despite this, Barça is still working towards playing at Spotify Camp Nou before the end of this season. In the coming days, the pace of construction may accelerate. The reason is administrative procedures related to permits from Barcelona’s City Council— the club is waiting for approval that would allow construction work to continue 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Regardless of this, the club and BSM (Barcelona Serveis Municipals) are close to an agreement to extend their use of the Montjuïc stadium until May 20. This solution would provide the club with an alternative in case the Camp Nou construction schedule prevents hosting matches there this season. The board’s ultimate dream is to host the LaLiga El Clásico against Real Madrid at Camp Nou on May 11, but with each passing day, this scenario seems increasingly unlikely.

According to information obtained by betevé in recent hours, some service providers linked to Camp Nou have been informed by the club about a possible return to the stadium only in November 2025. However, FC Barcelona, which maintains regular contact with its suppliers, denies having provided such information regarding any delays. At the same time, the club’s communication with residents of the Les Corts district has been consistent since the start of the renovation. Informational meetings regarding the progress of the Camp Nou reconstruction are regularly held.

The goal remains: A return this Season

FC Barcelona emphasizes that its goal is to play at least one match at Spotify Camp Nou this season. If this happens, construction work will be halted on matchdays. Additionally, the club clarifies that the completion of the third tier is not a prerequisite for returning to the stadium this season. Barça reminds that from the outset, it was announced that this part of the stadium would continue to be built after the team’s return, which has been factored into the official project timeline. The club insists that it never claimed that the third-tier construction would be completed by the time the team moves back in.

Barcelona also confirms that the VIP box at the stadium is being constructed by Limak, and not by any other external companies. The Turkish firm is the general contractor for the Camp Nou reconstruction, working alongside subcontractors on different aspects. Additionally, the club has already secured two preliminary fire safety plans, which have been approved by the fire department. However, the final plan cannot be approved until the stadium's construction is complete.

Consultations begin on changes to the grada de animación section

Despite the ongoing uncertainties surrounding Camp Nou’s reopening, FC Barcelona’s leadership is working on various club-related reforms. One example is the new model for the supporter section, known as the grada de qnimación. In an interview with Barça One, the club’s vice president for institutional affairs, Elena Fort, spoke about the new supporter stand project, which was announced on February 25 following a consultation process. Fort believes that the current model needs to be updated and adjusted to modern regulations, with a particular focus on attracting younger fans. The new Spotify Camp Nou requires a new space for fans, she stated, emphasizing that input from socios aged 18 to 30 will be crucial in shaping this process. The current supporter section model has been in place since 2016 when Barcelona's board decided to integrate four supporter groups. However, Fort argues that this system no longer meets the club’s needs.

On March 6, the club notified socios about the launch of a registration form for those interested in participating in the consultation process. The first phase will involve small working groups. By June, we will have completed this stage and will have a clear proposal for how the new supporter stand should look. Once we finalize the model, we will inform those interested in joining it, Fort announced.

The season ticket price for members of the grada de animación will be lower but will come with certain obligations. Supporter groups have their privileges, but they also have responsibilities. They must comply with regulations. In recent seasons, there have been multiple disciplinary cases related to violations of the anti-violence law in stadiums. FC Barcelona could no longer tolerate this situation. The signed agreements have now been enforced, concluded the vice president.
