Concerns about noise levels
Demolition of the remaining stands will commence in July, with the new stadium expected to be completed and open by June 2027. In the meantime, further details are emerging regarding the design of the new football stadium and its integration with the surrounding area. Noise emissions – both on match days and during concerts – will be lower than they are currently, though there is no 100% guarantee that the noise norms and recommendations will be fully met. According to a noise study conducted by Idom, the consultant responsible for the design of Nueva Romareda, on match days, the noise that will reach the facade of Miguel Servet Hospital (the most sensitive building in the area) is expected to range from 45 to 65 decibels, and during concerts, it will range from 45 to 55 decibels, which can be compared to the noise in offices. The noise inside hospital rooms will be lower as the walls and windows of the hospital will help absorb some of the sound coming from the stadium.
Currently, the noise level at La Romareda on match days ranges from 65 to 70 decibels, while during concerts it rises to between 70 and 75 decibels. Since the new structure will be taller and better insulated, it is expected that the noise emitted from the stadium will be reduced. However, municipal noise regulations set a maximum limit of 35 decibels during the day in hospital rooms and 27 decibels at night. According to the study, these limits will not be exceeded during concerts, although there is no guarantee they will not be surpassed during match days. However, the noise will always be lower than the current levels, as the sound will be less direct inside the hospital.

Despite concerns, authorities give green light
The noise study is part of the documentation that was approved recently during a meeting of the Urbanization Management Council, granting permission for the construction work in phase 1B of the stadium's construction. This phase includes the demolition of the remaining three stands and the erection of the new structure.
The approved documentation also reveals that due to the construction works and the expansion of the area the new stadium will occupy, 101 trees will need to be cut down. According to municipal regulations, these same trees must be replanted in the same area of activity, if possible. Otherwise, the stadium management company will be required to pay €130,723 as financial compensation.
Temporary stadium construction begins
Meanwhile, on January 20, the fencing of the site for the modular stadium in the Parking Norte area began. The Aragon government has also been working for several days on the redevelopment of the entire area, which will include new parking spaces for fans.
