Spain: Choice of stadium for El Clásico is getting closer Although much has been said about the possibility of playing the league Clásico outside Barcelona—or even abroad—the matter has yet to be formally addressed by the club’s board.

The board believes in a Camp Nou return but will prepare a backup plan

A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 28, where this situation will be discussed for the first time. The club’s management remains cautiously optimistic after several site visits in recent days aimed at assessing whether the Spotify Camp Nou will be ready in time for El Clásico.

The revamped stadium is still the top choice, and the Turkish construction company responsible for the project has assured the club that it’s feasible. The progress on the works appears to support this claim, giving reasons for optimism. Nonetheless, the club is preparing for all potential scenarios.

Montjuïc gears up for non-sporting events

From May onwards, Estadi Olímpic will return to the city’s administration, with several major events, such as Rolling Stones concerts, already scheduled. While provisional dates of May 10 and 15 have been agreed upon, they have yet to be officially confirmed. However, if these dates are finalized, the logistical preparations required for the concerts—demanding at least five days of work before the events—would make it impossible for Barça to use the stadium during this period.
