During FC Barcelona's Extraordinary Members‘ Assembly, club president Joan Laporta addressed key topics related to the team's current situation, including the return of Camp Nou to Spotify, problems with the supporters’ stand and plans for the club's future.

New cheering model at Montjuïc

One of the main challenges facing Barcelona is creating the right atmosphere at Montjuïc, which temporarily replaces Camp Nou during its redevelopment. Laporta stressed that the athletics stadium is significantly different from classic football venues, which affects the limited intensity of cheering.

We have appealed to everyone who goes to Montjuïc to do so with a predisposition to cheer. It is not a classic football stadium, so the cheering is not as powerful said the president. The club is working on a new model to be implemented at the temporary venue as well as when returning to Spotify Camp Nou.

The lack of group known as the Grada de Animación, whose members have breached the rules of the contract signed with the club, also remains a problem. "We are waiting for more fines and we cannot pay fines for behaviour that is condemned by anti-violence. That's why they are not in this part of the stadium and we invite the supporter clubs to this seating area and each supporter club has its own way of cheering,’ Laporta added.

What has been said about construction of Spotify Camp Nou?

The club's most important infrastructure project is the redevelopment of Camp Nou. Laporta made no secret of the fact that the construction of the new stadium is an undertaking, requiring a huge amount of money and the cooperation of many players. This is the most important investment in southern Europe and a lot of money is being invested every month. Building a stadium of this size is not easy. We want it to happen as soon as possible, but we have to go back to the UEFA rules, which say that the first part of the Champions League must be played at Montjuïc. From there we want to return sooner rather than later - stressed the president.

New Nike contract - record deal

During the Assembly, club members also ratified a new long-term contract with Nike, which will run until 2038. This is the best contract in the history of football Laporta announced, highlighting its key role in boosting the club's revenues.

The new agreement includes bonuses for sporting success, for both the men's and women's teams, and no penalties for failures. The club will also retain full control of its commercial operations, allowing the club to open new shops and develop e-commerce internationally.

Problems of first team

The meeting could not fail to ask questions about the irregular performance of the first football team. Laporta admitted that a series of defeats in the league had caused concern at the club.
