Interested companies have a few weeks to prepare their bids
Based on the contracting table, one of the four candidates will be selected to build phase 1B, which includes the demolition of La Romareda, the renewal of the site's urbanization, and the construction of Nueva Romareda. The companies involved are FCC Construcciones and FCC Industrial e Infraestructuras Energéticas SAU, Ferrovial Construcción, the Temporary Joint Venture (UTE) of Obrascón Huarte Laín SA, Altuna y Uria SA and OHLA Servicios Ingesan SA and UTE Constructora San José and Copasa. These selected companies have demonstrated a high degree of technical solvency in both non-residential and non-industrial construction and stadium projects, as well as strong financial solvency. These four companies will now be able to continue preparing their bids, which must be officially submitted by the end of November.
La Nueva Romareda estimates that it will be able to award the contract for this stage of the investment in the first half of January 2025, and after completing administrative processes, begin its execution in February. The first half of the year will mark the start of construction on Gol Sur. Starting July 1, 2025, with the end of the football season and the creation of a modular stadium nearby, work on the rest of the stadium will begin. This phase will cost a total of €138,510,534 (excluding VAT). The ultimate goal is for La Nueva Romareda to become a reality by August 31, 2027, allowing Real Zaragoza to play in the new stadium for the 2027/2028 season.

Will the new stadium symbolize Aragón's development progress?
Jorge Azcón, president of the Aragon government, assured during the first session of the Community's state debate that the Nueva Romareda project is already an icon of Aragón's progress. It's a project we should be proud of, and it will put our autonomous community at the epicenter of international sports with a high-profile event like the World Cup; this is what we mean when we talk about Aragón thinking boldly,
he said. He also expressed regret that the city of Huesca was excluded from hosting the 2030 World Cup, asserting that it met all the conditions to host such a tournament, a sentiment he shared with Spain's Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, during a meeting on October 10 at La Moncloa.
