Dundee FC has released a video created by the firm Holmes Miller, showcasing the details of their new stadium. The company has been working with the club and a team of consultants to shape the project, while also submitting an application for preliminary planning permission (PPiP).

A fully eco-friendly facility

The video reveals that in addition to Dundee FC's new 12,500-capacity stadium, the city will gain an eco-friendly, fully electric, multifunctional facility. It will also be suitable for hosting entertainment, business, and community events.

The stadium has been designed in line with FIFA Green Goals and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals to minimize carbon emissions. Sustainable features include energy-efficient floodlights and LED screens, photovoltaic panels, natural ventilation, 100% recyclable seating, a green roof supporting biodiversity, and a rainwater harvesting system. To encourage environmentally-friendly travel options, the stadium will be served by an e-bus terminal, a cycling hub, and electric vehicle charging stations, all situated within a high-standard public space. Additionally, the project includes a safe-standing terrace, a brewery, and high-definition video screens.

An investment in the local community

The stadium is part of a broader plan, currently awaiting preliminary planning approval. A decision is expected this fall, and the investment will also include the construction of a 140-room hotel, health and wellness centers, a carbon-neutral residential complex, and a city crematorium. Potential renovation and expansion of the existing Dundee ICE Arena are also planned.

When will construction begin?

A few days ago, Dundee officials announced that they expect to receive planning permission early enough to start work on the new stadium and event campus in Camperdown next year. The city submitted a planning application for this ambitious £95 million project earlier this year and is confident of receiving a positive response in the coming months.
