The project has been waiting for five years
The winning concept for the Polonia Warsaw stadium in 2019 was developed by JSK Architekci, the same firm that designed the National Stadium and Legia's stadium. Fans of Polonia betting on the start date of the construction of the new stadium may feel like players betting on the spot where the ball will stop on a spinning wheel. To meet the complex competition requirements regarding spatial layout and architecture, the project was divided into three volumes: the stadium, a sports hall, and a Sports Support Center. All elements maintain a similar aesthetic, with light colonnades rhythmically defining the building boundaries. The projected capacity of the stadium is 16,000 seats.
The project's implementation is planned in three stages. The first stage will include the construction of a sports hall, Sports Support Center, and underground parking. The actual stadium construction will begin in the second stage, with the erection of three new stands (north, south, and east). The third stage involves the reconstruction of the main stand. The entire investment will be carried out through a public-private partnership.

We are awaiting construction permits.
The estimated cost of the project is 500 million PLN, with the city planning to cover only about 20% of this amount. The remainder will be financed by a private investor, who will manage the facilities for 30 years in return. The work will proceed in a manner that allows Polonia to continue using the current technical infrastructure during home matches without major disruptions.
"Opening this venue to the city is very important to us. We also want the youth to have another space for sports," announces Warsaw's Deputy Mayor Renata Kaznowska, quoted by sport.rp.pl.
According to the latest information, the permit process for construction is still ongoing. Due to the multiple buildings planned, it is a complex procedure. Simultaneously, the city is in negotiations with four partners who are tasked with developing the area under the public-private partnership. Negotiations have been temporarily suspended pending the issuance of building permits.

How long will we have to wait?
"This is not just a stadium for Polonia. When we talk about a stadium, we are accused of neglecting schools and kindergartens. We are not building a stadium for Polonia, but rather transforming a large area in the city center," explains Kaznowska.
According to information from 2023, construction work was expected to start in early 2025, with Polonia players expected to play at the fully renovated facility four years later. Currently, it is unclear whether these timelines are still valid. Unofficially, there are talks that the investment may start in 2025, but not until the autumn.
