How was Levi's Stadium created?
Plans to build a new stadium for the San Francisco 49ers appeared as early as 1997, and 9 years later there was a concept to put an arena on the parking lot of the old stadium, as part of a bid to host the Olympic Games. The idea fell through, however, after the 49ers' owners began trying on the idea of moving the club outside the city limits, to Santa Clara, that same year. It was here that construction was finally approved, with the green light given by residents in 2010. They are surely very interested in the events at the stadium but also in entertainment available on the Internet, like online casinos on a kingbilly.com/en-CA website.
The soccer inauguration of the facility was held on July 17, 2014, when San Jose Earthquakes competed against the Seattle Sounders. Currently, Levi's Stadium is home to the football team, the San Francisco 49ers. The stands are divided into three main levels, with a total of more than 68,500 seats with the possibility of expanding to 75,000. In May 2013, the developer signed a deal to name the stadium with clothing giant Levi's. For the first 20 years, the facility will be called Levi's Stadium, which will earn about $200 million, the third highest contract of its kind in history at the time the documents were signed.
What will change at Levi's Stadium?
The 49ers hope to begin Levi's Stadium renovation project soon, which will add 9 more suites to the 23 they already own, which are located in the stadium. The plan also calls for an upgrade of more than 100 standard suites, including the installation of additional amenities in their interiors. Ahead of Levi's Stadium is the facility's 10th anniversary and the World Cup - these events also have an impact on the currently forming plans.
The 49ers intend to complete the renovation project in two phases - half of the suites will be done before the 2024 season and the other before the 2025 season, so as not to disrupt the schedule of private events at Levi's Stadium. It hosts about a hundred such events a year. The 49ers will pay for the project out of their capital expenditure budget, but have also applied to take advantage of a program that allows certain fees to be waived. It is not yet known exactly how much funding the investment will consume. What is revealed is that the internationally recognized Populous group is participating in the design, and the contractor, Devcon, is known.
Levi's Stadium is not the only facility with which renovations are connected before the World Cup. Some of the biggest changes will take place in Mexico City - at Estadio Azteca and its neighbourhood. The surroundings of the arena are to be rebuilt in preparation for the big tournament. The plans are very ambitious and include a complete revitalization of the nearby area.
