New stadium to accommodate 15,000 people is on its way – contract signed, construction site transferred to the contractors. Deal worth €20m is finally on its way.

New municipal stadium to replace the current one is finally going to happen – that can be the only conclusion to supporters of BKS Stal and TS Bodbeskidzie, two tenants of the ground. They’ve been waiting several years for plans to come to fruition and now it seems nothing can stop them anymore as the site has just been transferred to contractors.

Locally-based company BPBP has been given the site on which they are to build a new ground in 28 months. It is expected that works will start within the next few days, ending a year-long deadlock on the project.

Bialsko-Biała municipality has chosen their design several years back, but managed to start a construction tender only in 2011. Once it was announced that BPBP are the preferred bidders, construction permit has been revoked due to protest by local resident.

The city were negotiating for months and managed to overcome fears by residents that traffic and matchday crowds will effectively ruin their weekends. Several amendments made to the design have helped in regaining support for the idea of the new 15,000-seater.
