USA: Renovation titled ,,stadium of the future At the end of June 2024, Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan announced the completion of negotiations for the renovation of Jacksonville Stadium. Despite the significant financial outlay, the project is expected to bring above-average benefits to the city, with the stadium set to become one of the most modern facilities in the United States.

What will they spend such large amounts of money on?

The $1.4 billion EverBank Stadium redevelopment project is set to upgrade the arena. The City of Jacksonville will provide $775 million for the renovation, while Khan will cover the rest of the costs and any budget overruns. The city's share of the funding will be 55%, a record amount for this type of investment.

Among other things, the renovation will give the stadium a roof to provide shade, which will improve the comfort of fans during matches played on hot days. The drop in temperature inside the venue is estimated at 15 degrees. The project also includes the use of the existing big scoreboards and the reconstruction of the upper part of the stadium, while keeping the lower part of the stands in good shape. Thanks to predictable air currents, the part of the stadium where matches are played will not be air-conditioned, further reducing running costs.

Construction of Stadium of the Future will begin after the 2025 season, with the Jaguars team playing with reduced seating capacity in 2026 and moving to Gainesville for a year at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium or Orlando at Camping World Stadium. The renovations are scheduled to be completed in 2028, meaning Jaguars fans will be able to enjoy one of the most modern stadiums in the NFL in four years' time.

Reaction from interested parts - official renovation meeting

A meeting was held on Wednesday, June 26, to officially announce the redevelopment. Shad Khan stressed that the aim of the project is to create a modern and sustainable facility that will serve the city for many years to come. Khan, who previously studied architecture, was inspired by the organic shapes and unique style, which is reflected in the new stadium design. I don't get any joy of proving people wrong. - Khan told disbelievers who doubted the arena's redevelopment.

Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan expressed gratitude for Khan's contribution to the city, noting his previous investments such as the construction of the Four Seasons Hotel & Residences Jacksonville. She stressed that the renovation of the stadium is proof that Jacksonville can compete with larger cities and has a bright future. This is a historic day for our city. she added.

Next steps include approval of the project by NFL owners, which requires a 75 % approval vote. Jaguars president Mark Lamping is confident that the Jacksonville stadium, which is the city's largest investment in a sports facility, will gain the league's approval. The final design assumes no compromise on quality or functionality, which is expected to bring significant benefits to the city.
