Opponent that inspired Espanyol

The numbers don't lie and the Espanyol management are aware of this. In the 2023/24 season, attendance at Stage Front Stadium was one of the weakest among all LaLiga Hypermotion teams, at less than 50%. The Barcelona club's opponent here is much better, with less emptiness at El Molinón, where 67.2% of seats were taken.

In the first match of the play-offs, Espanyol won 0:1 away, but what might have surprised the players of both teams was the number of fans in the stands, which topped the results from the final round. Sporting Gijon's stadium was almost 88% full. Espanyol's governing body decided it did not want to be worse and prepared a new discounted ticketing policy for the rematch.

Way to fill stadium

For a start, unlike members of the Rojiblancos, Espanyol season ticket holders will have free entry to the return match, which will take place on June 13. In addition, each of them will be able to invite a companion free of charge and will be able to buy another ticket for between €5 and €15. This means that for every three people, they will be able to enter for a maximum price of €15.

It won't just be the home fans in the stadium. Hundreds of Sportinguistas are already buying tickets via their rival's website. Sales are open to all, so there is a good chance the venue will be full. Prices for fans without passes range from €30 to €40. Here, too, there is a noticeable difference to the prices set by Sporting Gijon. The cheapest tickets for the first match of the play-offs, which sold out quickly, were €36, while the rest was €60.
