Three stages

The necessity of renovating the Carlo Castellani stadium has been a topic of discussion for some time. In light of the positive outcome of the recent meeting held in Rome with the working group of the interinstitutional committee for the modernization of Italian stadiums in preparation for Euro 2032, the new facility in Empoli would meet all requirements to support the nearby Stadio Artemio Franchi.

According to the preliminary project, the renovation will be carried out in three stages. The final stage, involving the relocation of the stands, will be the most complex. Phasing the investment will allow Empoli to avoid vacating the stadium during the works. The plan also includes the removal of the current training pitch, known as Subsidiario, with the intention of replacing it with a hotel. Approved changes in the urban development plan by the municipality will facilitate the expansion of the Monteboro sports center.
