Important step

Choosing a new stadium is a huge, positive stage in the development of the women's team. For the first time, the team will enjoy having their own custom-made locker room, and the facility will be adapted to meet the requirements for playing matches at the Premier League level. This mainly concerns the pitch, which is currently set up primarily for rugby matches. There will also be the Liverpool crest and other significant branding elements so that the team feels at home. A change for better?

Totally Wicked Stadium was inaugurated in 2012 and can accommodate 17,646 fans. The facility will remain the home and property of the St. Helens RFC rugby team. The rugby league season runs from February to September, so LFC Women will have exclusive use of the stadium for nearly half of the football season. St Helens Stadium was chosen as the new home of the Liverpool women's team due to the expiration of the rental agreement at Prenton Park at the end of the current season. The decision was made after consultations with players, staff, and fans through the Supporters Board and fan surveys. On May 5, the LFC Women played their last game at Prenton Park.

The move to St Helens Stadium follows significant investments in the acquisition and redevelopment of the AXA Melwood Training Centre, making it one of the best training facilities for women in the Barclays Women's Super League. Investments in the team's roster, facilities, and broader infrastructure, including the Pro Game Academy, are also ongoing.

Broader offering for fans

The new 10-year lease agreement at St Helens demonstrates the club's long-term commitment to the women's team and its continuous desire to provide the best possible facilities for players and staff, fulfilling the ambitions of LFC Women. This move will also allow the club to provide a better matchday experience, not only in the stands but also in its immediate surroundings. Liverpool plans to create special zones where fans can spend time before matches, enjoying food offerings, children's attractions, and a range of other events to make the wait for the kickoff more enjoyable.

We are delighted to welcome LFC Women and their fans to our stadium. This agreement will provide St. Helens RFC with a new, state-of-the-art pitch, as well as additional revenue sources for the club, said Eamonn McManus, chairman of St. Helens RFC.

Additionally, the LFC Foundation will expand its reach, aiming to launch projects specifically for the St Helens area to support girls in sports and provide more funding for community projects.
