England: Over £300 million investment underway at Etihad! Manchester City has entered a crucial phase of redevelopment at Etihad Stadium. This investment aims to increase the capacity of the venue to nearly 62,000 seats. The upgrades include expanding the North Stand, but that's not the only work planned for Pep Guardiola's team's stadium.

Premier League's best stadium?

Since 2002, when City of Manchester Stadium was renovated for the Commonwealth Games, there have been numerous upgrades. Originally a two-tier structure with a track around its base, it was transformed into a state-of-the-art football arena and multi-purpose venue. The Etihad underwent further renovations, including expanding the South Stand and now accommodates up to 53,400 spectators. However, more enhancements are in store, aiming to make it one of the best stadiums in the Premier League and a significant attraction for tourists and fans beyond match days.

As recently confirmed by Manchester City, the North Stand expansion has taken a significant step forward, with the initial steel framework now in place. This section will house a fan zone for 3,000 people, a 400-bed hotel, a new club shop, and a museum. Above the upper level of the extended stand, there will be a sky bar and a rooftop walkway, offering fans a unique view of the pitch and Manchester skyline.

The stadium redevelopment project will also create new job opportunities and boost the economy in the region, building on the club's longstanding investments and commitment to the local community. During the construction phase alone, 890 full-time employees will be hired.

This investment is designed with our fans in mind and demonstrates our commitment to creating one of the most memorable fan experiences in world sport, said Danny Wilson, Managing Director of Manchester City. This will enhance the fan experience at a stadium chosen as one of the host venues for UEFA Euro 2028. The £300 million-plus investment is set to conclude before the 2025/2026 season.

The redevelopment is part of a broader modernization of the Etihad campus surrounding the football stadium, which includes the construction of the Co-op Live arena for music and entertainment events. Construction on Co-op Live began in 2021, with the arena currently scheduled to open in April 2024.
