Chorzów: Will attendance record be broken? In the context of the 29th round of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, a match between Ruch Chorzów and Widzew Łódź will be played. The "Friendship Match" always arouses great emotions. At this moment, over 32,000 tickets have been sold for this encounter. Will an attendance record be set?

Increased capacity

Ruch Chorzów has announced that the permissible capacity of the Stadion Śląski has been increased to 50,000 seats specifically for this match. Fans have just under a week left to fill the Kocioł Czarownic (Witches' Cauldron). The match will take place on April 20th at 5:30 PM. Ruch is promoting the match against Widzew with the slogan: #WeGoForTheRecord. If fans buy all the tickets, a new attendance record for the Ekstraklasa in the 21st century will be set. Currently, this record belongs to Lech Poznań from 2016, when exactly 41,567 fans attended the match against Legia Warsaw at the Enea Stadion. This season, Ruch's record attendance remains the recent 38,106 fans at the Great Silesian Derby against Górnik Zabrze.

The matter was complicated by the damages caused by Górnik Zabrze fans during the Great Silesian Derby, but we managed to sort everything out, so we can strive for the league attendance record of the 21st century, says Tomasz Ferens, Ruch's spokesperson, in an interview with Łódzki Sport.

Mobilization in progress

In Łódź and nearby fan clubs, mobilization for the trip to Chorzów has been ongoing for a long time. Despite the closure of the away section due to damages during the match against Górnik Zabrze in the stands of the Stadion Śląski, a significant number of fans from the Łódź voivodeship will be present.

A few days ago, around thirty Widzew Łódź FC Zgierz supporters gathered at Jana Pawła II Square in front of the city hall with banners and flares to encourage and mobilize as many people as possible to attend the match in Chorzów.

On April 20th, the whole of Zgierz is flying out to Chorzów. You must be there, said one of the fans in a recorded message.
