New venue for new franchise

Idea of a new football stadium in Orlando surfaced in 2013, along with a plan to establish an MLS club in the city. At first, the facility was to be financed largely with public funds, but after such a proposal was rejected, the newly-formed Orlando City SC club took the entire investment on itself. Construction work began symbolically in 2014, but in practice in 2015. After a small delay, they managed to bring the project to completion in February 2017, just in time for the MLS season.

Interestingly, the stadium began construction for 19,000 spectators, but Orlando City's debut season (played at the nearby Citrus Bowl) was so popular that a decision was made during construction to erect a second level of the south stand and build up the corners to reach around 25,500 seats. Orlando Pride joined the National Women's Soccer League in 2016 and since the opening of the stadium has also been using it. June 2019. Orlando City SC has completed its search for a stadium naming rights partner, agreeing a deal with holiday rental and timeshare company Exploria Resorts. That deal renamed the club’s home from Orlando City Stadium to Exploria Stadium, but the arena has a new sponsor now.

Inter&Co acquires naming rights to Orlando stadium

Inter&Co is a Brazilian financial and digital commerce services provider, who has agreed to a 10-year deal to become the new stadium naming rights partner for the home of both Orlando soccer teams. The agreement with Orlando City SC and the Orlando Pride will rename the teams’ home venue as Inter&Co Stadium. The company is stepping up its support after becoming the official financial institution of the teams back in September. Exploria Resorts will continue as the exclusive, official vacation club of the two clubs.

The enhanced relationship in Orlando designates Inter&Co as the first international partner for the club. It’s also the first financial institution with Latin-American roots to own the naming rights of a major stadium in the United States.

“It’s only fitting that as we enter our 10th season in MLS here in Orlando and ninth in the NWSL, that we would partner for the next decade with a global company, not only committed to our community, but with a shared vision for the future. We are truly excited about what we will build together, enhancing the fan experience in the venue and further connecting our soccer cultures in meaningful ways,” said chairman Mark Wilf.

As the official sponsor of accounts, debit and credit cards, mortgages and remittances, Inter&Co will be the financial partner of Orlando fans, enabling them to receive rewards, benefits and exclusive experiences at Inter&Co Stadium.

As part of its commitment to the greater Orlando community, Inter&Co will join forces with the two clubs to launch new grassroots initiatives. The sponsor will strengthen local youth financial literacy programmes, with other programmes to be announced in the coming months.

Inter&Co Stadium will be upgraded

Backed by partnership investment from the club owners, Inter&Co Stadium has embarked on an improvement project that will bring better technology to the facility. Upgrades include five million new LED pixels, a new state-of-the-art video board, new LED facades throughout the bowl, a 16'x9' LED wall in the West Club, and more than 200 new TV monitors in the suites, premium spaces, concession stands and lower level. Additionally, fans will be able to take advantage of new interactive displays; Wi-Fi 6 and 6E; 5G antennas for increased mobile coverage; and new hospitality options such as 'The Terrace'.
