New York City FC has recently showcased the latest images of their ambitious new stadium, set to be constructed in Queens, New York. The club has plans to establish a permanent home stadium at Willets Point in Flushing, which will be situated directly opposite the renowned New York Mets ballpark, Citi Field.

The proposed 25,000-seat stadium comes with an estimated price tag of around $780 million, with the funds being privately financed. The design renderings reveal a sleek, contemporary, and minimalistic architectural approach. Predominantly in black and white, the design is accentuated with the team's signature blue, especially around the entrance and signage areas. An interesting feature is the stadium's name, which will be displayed prominently on the roof, making it visible to planes landing and taking off from the nearby LaGuardia Airport.

Stadium project takes significant step forward

In a recent communication to fans, NYCFC expressed their excitement about the progress of the stadium project. Following numerous positive discussions with Queens Community Board 7, local stakeholders, elected officials, labor unions, and more, the stadium project, along with the entire second phase of the Willets Point development, has officially commenced the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) approval process. This significant step brings the club closer to realizing their dream of a permanent home for NYCFC.

The ULURP process is a crucial development procedure in New York City that involves the local community and grants permission to initiate construction. Designed to be time-bound, the entire approval process is expected to conclude within a span of 7 months. During a recent review session with the City Planning Commission, updated images of the proposed stadium project were shared, further fueling the anticipation and excitement among fans and stakeholders.
