Spain: Real return to Bernabéu! Despite the fact that Los Blancos played their last fixture at their home venue quite recently, which was on June 4, the return to Bernabéu has been highly anticipated. The stadium is not yet completely ready, but the construction work currently underway allows matches to be played again.

Preparations for the small and big opening

Preparations are underway at Bernabéu for the opening ceremony, scheduled for September 2, when the match against Getafe will take place. After three consecutive away games, Real Madrid will return to their stadium. The seats at Bernabéu have undergone a complete transformation. Throughout the summer, work was carried out on the stadium bowl to install folding seats in 100% of the stadium. This action is essential to ensure greater comfort for club members and supporters.

Work also focused on the central part of the stadium, the pitch, where the installation of the turf was carried out. Tests of the mechanised turf on platforms one, two and three were organised. Tests of the new retractable roof also took place. The cover will be able to close and open fully automatically, which will take about half an hour in total.

More fans than last season

Fans are eager to watch their team in Madrid and they are showing it by buying up tickets. A good start to the league season by Ancelotti's team and Bellingham's form are more than enough reasons for Madrid fans to fill Bernabéu stands this Saturday, as much as possible.

The stadium will undergo refurbishment in the days between matches, and for the meeting with Getafe the capacity will be increased compared to last season. Bernabéu will be able to accommodate 70,000 spectators, around 5,000 more than a few months ago.

For the first time, the pitch, which is located on one of the plates that are underground, will be tested in practice. The boards will be stored in the hypogeum if necessary, and tests of the retractable system have already been carried out in recent weeks. The match against Getafe will be a perfect occasion to see if last year's turf problems and maintenance complications have been resolved. Also 14 days later, when Real Madrid host Real Sociedad, the new turf will be tested to see how it stands up to the passage of days.
