We wanted to write “on sale” but they're free of charge. Australia's most expensive stadium in history will open with a community even in on January 21, 2018.
In exactly 76 days the latest stadium in Australia will see its first ever event. Tickets for the January 21 community day will be available from Thursday (Nov 9). As it's a taxpayer-funded stadium, local residents are the ones invited to see it in particular. All tickets are free and initial pool stands at 70,000. It may be increased if such need arises.
The first event isn't commercialised, the second one also won't be. The 60,000-seat Perth Stadium will see AFLW team Fremantle Dockers make their debut on February 10, in what's hoped to be the largest stand-alone women's sport event in Australia. Tickets are set at just $2 and all money will go to charity.
The commercial part of Australia's most expensive stadium ($1.45 billion or US$1.1 billion) begins in March, 2018. Two nights of Ed Sheeran's gigs will see well over 100,000 people at the venue on March 2 and 3.
A week later rugby Premiership season begins with two games at Perth Stadium, while football will officially come in late July or early August, when Perth Glory meets Chelsea FC.
