Until the very last day we had no idea which stadium would win. But there could be only one Stadium of the Year in this year’s Public Vote and you chose Vodafone Arena.
If we were to summarise this year’s Public Vote briefly, it would be the story of these two stadiums: Stadion FK Krasnodar and Vodafone Arena. They were both ranked very highly by voters regardless of their nationality. They both also enjoyed significant support from Russia and Turkey, respectively. In the end Vodafone Arena came on top, but just slightly, with 102,251 points.
If we were to see them tie in the end, we probably wouldn’t even mind naming both these stadiums Stadium of the Year. But despite meeting at the same number of points several times, the “Turkish Coliseum” won with its Russian competitor.
It’s worth mentioning, the stadium received support from 27,386 voters despite not being promoted by Beşiktaş. And still it was ranked well above stadiums of West Ham and Olympique Lyon who informed fans about the vote. Chapeaux bas!
