The North Stand at the Madejski Stadium is to be renamed in honour of former academy manager Eamonn Dolan, who passed away last month.

The tragic news of Dolan’s death, following a courageous battle with cancer, sparked an overwhelming and emotional call from Royals’ fans for the stand to be named after him.

The Eamonn Dolan stand at Madejski Stadium will be officially opened on Saturday, August 6, when Reading host Preston North End on the first day of the Championship season.

A club statement, released on the day of his funeral on Tuesday, said the stand would be named after a man who contributed so much to the club and whose indelible legacy will last long into the club’s future.
