Two of them already arrived, two more are being prepared. Four large lion sculptures will decorate the outer concourse of Olympique Lyonnais new stadium.
New Olympique Lyonnais stadium in eastern suburbs of Lyon will have an interesting decoration of its outer promenade. Soon there will be four lions guarding the stadium. Designed in modern, geometric form, these should an attraction on matchdays.
First one (blue) arrived in late February. Second one (white) was unloaded on Friday and painting of the third one (red) is now ending. The final fourth lion will be golden, ending the list of Olympique’s club colours.
Each of the lions is 4.2m high, 4m long and 2.5m wide. Though we described them as sculptures, these are in fact 3D prints! Each consist of 88 smaller modules put together.
Creating each lion took 500 hours of non-stop printing by a French startup Drawn. Due to the weight of 1.5 ton, each lion is transported to the stadium separately on a truck.
