Yesterday saw official groundbreaking in Austrian town of Altach. SCRA will play in Europa League for the first time ever next season.
May 26 was the official groundbreaking date at Cashpoint Arena. Within the next several weeks the stadium will see a brand new field with under-soil heating system, a new requirement in the Austrian Bundesliga. Also, floodlights will be improved from 600 to 1000 lux.
As part of this first phase of improvements, the main grandstand will be expanded northwards, by roughly 500 covered seats. This is all SC Rheindorf Altach will manage to change by the 2015/16 season. They’re hopeful of holding all games at home, including their debut in the Europa League after securing 4th spot domestically.
Late autumn will see works behind the southern goal, where a new permanent stand is to replace the current one. Eventually the stadium in Altach is expected to change very much in the manner shown below:
