During today’s La Lige closing at Estadio El Sadar a barrier collapsed, causing a surge in the celebrating crowd. 25 people were treated for injuries, but only 5 need hospitalization.
In the 12th minute of today’s Osasuna-Betis game home team got ahead, causing joy across Estadio El Sadar. Unfortunately behind one goal the barrier separating fans from the field gave way. Dozens of people fell from the 1-meter high stands.
With many people landing on one-another, rescue teams rushed to help everyone. Also other fans and players of both teams got involved in clearing the site and making sure no-one is left without aid. In total 25 people were injured, of whom 5 were taken to hospital. The rest were released after treatment on site.
The game was halted for 35 minutes. Afterwards referees resumed it and saw Osasuna win 2:1 in the last game of La Liga season.
