Hamburg: Sankt Pauli supporters paint their new stand The back straight was opened in February and is now getting colourful. Of course as long as brown, red and white is your definition of ‘colourful’. But it seems to suit Sank Pauli fans, who will finish their painting action this weekend.

The club, stadium operator and fan community of Sank Pauli ran the ‘malaktion’ (painting action) together last weekend, decorating their new back straight stand (Gegengerade) in club colours, slogans and graffiti.

The stand is Sank Pauli’s newest investment, opened in February and consisting mostly of terracing and continuing the tradition of sections that used to be there before. Accommodating most of the standing and vocal fans at Millerntor, this stand became one of two cores for matchday atmosphere.

A few dozen people came to the stadium on Saturday and Sunday to do the painting. Some was regular wall paintwork, but fans used this occasion to express what they believe in. And with Sankt Pauli being known for their left wing views, political content can also be found among the pop-cultural and anti-discrimination slogans.

Despite not all work being done (the action continues this weekend), below we present some of the outcome released by FC Sankt Pauli:
