Berlin: New grandstand at Union formally open

Berlin: New grandstand at Union formally open Prestigious friendly game and pyrotechnic show marked the final of Alte Försterei’s redevelopment. Though the new main stand has been open since February, its inauguration took place on Friday.

On Friday the redevelopment of Alte Försterei was symbolically celebrated as the new main grandstand was inaugurated. Practically the stand was in operation from February, but official opening was scheduled for June 12.

Guests marking the occasion were Celtic FC, who experienced a painful defeat (0:3) in front of a huge turnout of 21,738 people.

And though the occasion was big, no presentation/choreography was presented by the supporters. Even more, the north end, which is the core of support, wasn’t officially leading the chants on Friday. Cause of this situation isn’t exactly known to us at this point.

Still, those in attendance were treated to a lot of pyrotechnics lit from the roof and centre of the field. Photos and clips from that evening can be seen below:
