Nuremberg: 1. FC Nürnberg to build a new stadium? Is this a realistic plan or just a way to say that the club isn’t happy with current lease terms? Time will tell, but so far sports director claims the club will run a feasibility study, whether a redevelopment or construction from scratch would be better.

Today German newspaper Kicker published an interview with Martin Bader, sports officer at 1. FC Nürnberg. One thing Bader makes clear is that – contrary to initial agency news – the football club doesn’t benefit at all from the latest naming rights deal with Grundig, all revenue goes to the city.

Meanwhile FC Nürnberg need to increase their revenue stream, also matchday revenues, to be able to compete with other Bundesliga sides. This is why Bader claims a feasibility study is to be carried out by the club.

The aim is to show, whether redeveloping the current Grundig Stadion to a football-only venue (like it was done in Stuttgart or Bremen) or building a brand new stadium for the club are possible.
