Yesterday we finally heard the name of winning bidder for new NFL superstadium in Minneapolis. Decision was due last week, but Minnesota Sport Facilities Authority only manager to cut the final shortlist by one name, eliminating Skanska.

Now also Hunt Construction Group from Arizona lost, as Mortenson Construction was selected for the contract. Total cost of the new stadium is expected to stay within $975 million.

Now the challenge for Mortenson and HKS Architects is to create a final design of the stadium that will fit the budget constraints. At the same time it is expected the venue will have a feature like retractable roof or façade. Mortenson already hired author of retractable elements at Lucas Oil Dome to work on it.
