Budapest: New giant screens just before building a new stadium? To some this comes as a surprise – tender has been launched to deliver 2 giant screens for the outdated Ferenc Puskas Stadium. This comes despite plans of a new 65,000-seat stadium awaiting implementation, vg.hu reports.

Potential bidders have time until March 21 to work on their offers for two giant screens. Measuring 10x15 meters each, the jumbotrons are to be installed within 150 days of winner announcement.

Motivation behind the decision isn't clear to some commentators as Hungary is expected to have a brand new national stadium in 2016, meaning construction should start shortly. The 65,000-capacity venue is expected to cost up to HUF 100 billion (over €340 million, $460 million).
