We know the complete list of 6 bidders hoping to grab the nearly $1 billion contract for Vikings Stadium. Three of them are local, same amount based in more distant locations. Winner expected on Feb 1.
On Friday the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority released the list of companies that attended a pre-proposal meeting for prospective construction managers. Three Minnesota companies are on the list: Mortenson Construction and Kraus-Anderson of Minneapolis, and Loeffler Construction of Lakeville.
The three other firms are Gilbane Building Companies (Rhode Island) and two more with extensive stadium portfolio – Skanska (American hq based in New Jersey) and Hunt Construction Group from Arizona.
All bidders are expected to submit their final proposals by January 21 and after evaluation the best offer is expected to be announced on Feb 1. The new $975-million stadium is due to be opened in 2016, with construction expected to begin in October this year.
