English athlete Jessica Ennis has become a hero for many by winning the heptathlon golden medal. No wonder that the proposition to rename a stadium with her name concerns Don Valley Stadium in her home town of Sheffield.

The idea was brought to journalists’ attention by former sports minister Richard Caborn. It’s supposed to aid popularity of athletics, now highly defeated by football. That may be seen in Sheffield as well with Don Valley being only the third largest stadium in the city while at the same time being among the largest athletics stadiums in England.
