New York: New football-specific stadium announced Though it’s the most famous metropolis In the world, NY lacks football stadium. First significant venue for MLS club Red Bulls came in 2010. Now a second one will come, this time in Queens.

Harrison in New York’s suburban area was the first site for a new football-specific stadium. The Red Bull Arena, opened in 2010, cost some $250m.

But one club for a city of that size isn’t enough. Or so think the MLS authorities as the league has just announced building of a second stadium in NY for the league to expand.

It will be located in Queens and is projected to accommodate some 20,000-25,000 people. Ironically, it isn’t known yet what club would play there, but MLS project finding a long-term tenant cannot be difficult in such an lucrative location.
