Tragic incident took place on Sunday evening in Buenos Aires as a fan was stabbed during a fight. Despite attempts to save his life, he passed away after several hours – C5N television reports.
During Sunday’s 36th round of games in Primera B (2nd league) River Plate took on Boca Unidos at El Monumental. 2:1 win strengthened their 1st position. However, the game will be remembered mostly for violence that – according to eye-witnesses – erupted when some supporters started singing critical chants towards the team. Others were supposed to respond with aggression and a brawl started.
During fights 21yo Gonzalo Saucedo was stabbed in the chest. Though quickly transported to nearby hospital, he died after several hours, on Monday morning.
NGO Salvemos al futbol estimates that 261 people have already been killed in football-related violence. Just this year Saucedo is thought to be the 5th victim, though first to be hurt inside a stadium.
