Start of modernization works

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, work began on the renovation of the pitch at Stadio Simone Veneziani. The information was announced by the councillor for public works, Cristian Iaia, and the councillor for sport, Vincenzo Laneve. The project is a key part of a broader program to modernize the city’s sports infrastructure. While investments and redevelopments continue to attract attention, an increasing number of fans are also turning to online entertainment, including world cup betting, which offers welcome bonuses.

The project has been awarded to Delfino Sport, the company that won the public tender. The scope of work includes a comprehensive reconstruction of the playing surface along with adapting the stadium to current standards.

Artificial turf and new pitch parameters

One of the key elements of the project is replacing the existing natural grass at Stadio Simone Veneziani with a modern artificial turf system. This solution is expected to provide greater durability, lower maintenance costs, and allow for more intensive use of the facility.

At the same time, changes to the pitch dimensions are planned. The width will be increased from 65 to 68 meters, meeting the requirements for higher-level sports venues. These modifications will also affect the internal layout of the stadium, including adjustments to the underpass access.

Project phases

The modernization process has been divided into several stages. Currently, topographic and geometric surveys are being carried out to precisely determine the new elevations and layout of the pitch. This will be followed by the removal of the existing turf and sub-base layers, construction of a new drainage system, installation of the synthetic surface, and finally the technical inspections required for facility certification.

The new drainage system is expected to significantly improve rainwater management, resulting in a more stable surface and reliable usability regardless of weather conditions.

The project is considered strategic for the city, both in sporting and social terms. The modernization is intended to enhance accessibility and improve the overall quality of infrastructure for the local community. Authorities have also announced ongoing monitoring of the works to ensure compliance with the planned schedule and quality standards.
