Real Madrid C.F. has won a major legal battle over noise complaints at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. A Madrid court ruled that concert organizers — not the club — are responsible for respecting noise limits during events. Despite the decision, large concerts at the stadium remain heavily restricted.

Madrid court dismisses proceedings against Real Madrid
The Madrid Provincial Court ruled that responsibility for complying with noise limits primarily lies with concert organisers. According to the court, companies staging events are responsible for monitoring and controlling decibel levels generated during music performances.
In practice, this means that Real Madrid CF and its general director will not face criminal liability over excessive noise issues around Santiago Bernabéu. The club announced that the court ordered the dismissal of proceedings against José Ángel Sánchez and Real Madrid Estadio SL.

Concerts at Santiago Bernabéu remain suspended
The court’s decision does not, however, mark the end of the problems surrounding concerts at Real Madrid’s stadium. Since September 2024, Santiago Bernabéu has effectively stopped hosting major music events after the club suspended its entire concert programme due to the ongoing legal proceedings. Despite the favourable ruling for club officials, the stadium is still unable to fully resume concert operations. The main issue remains soundproofing and reducing noise affecting local residents living near the venue.
The club continues to carry out works aimed at improving the stadium’s acoustics and limiting the amount of sound escaping outside the arena. However, Real Madrid has not yet presented the full results of the technical solutions currently being implemented.
Until the issue is resolved, the organisation of large-scale concerts at Santiago Bernabéu will remain heavily restricted. For the club’s management, this represents a significant business problem, as music events were expected to become one of the key additional revenue streams following the stadium’s redevelopment.
