New capacity of Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán

The authorities of Seville have taken a key decision regarding the future of Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, giving preliminary approval to its expansion and modernization plan. One of the most important elements of the project is increasing the stadium’s capacity to around 55,000 spectators. The modernization will include the reconstruction of the stands and their full roofing, which will significantly improve fan comfort and the conditions for organizing events.

The structural changes will require precise adaptation of the existing structure to new standards, while preserving its characteristic architecture. The expansion will also optimize visibility from the stands and adapt the seating layout to the requirements of international football federations. Thanks to this, the stadium in Seville will be able to host major sporting and cultural events.

The modernization of Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán also assumes opening the stadium to new commercial functions. Along the façade, spaces for gastronomy, retail and entertainment will be created, which will allow the facility to be used throughout the year, not only during matches. As a result, Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán will become a multifunctional urban center, generating additional revenue for the club and supporting the local economy.

Revitalization of the Nervión district around Sevilla FC stadium

The project goes far beyond the stadium itself and includes a comprehensive reconstruction of urban space in the Nervión district. A key element will be the creation of a large, publicly accessible square on the side of Avenida Eduardo Dato, which will become a new center of social life in this part of the city.

The new public space will be designed with residents in mind – there will be elements of street furniture, shaded areas and solutions limiting the urban heat island effect. Thanks to this, the surroundings of the stadium will function not only on matchdays, but also on a daily basis as a place for meetings and recreation.

An important aspect of the investment is also the reorganization of transport infrastructure around the stadium. Existing surface parking lots, mainly used by technical and logistics vehicles, will be replaced with modern underground parking. Some of them will be made available to residents, which is an important compromise between the club’s interests and the needs of the local community. This solution will not only organize the space around the stadium, but also increase its functionality and aesthetics, while reducing car traffic at ground level.

Public consultations and controversies around the stadium modernization

Despite many benefits, the project has also met with criticism from some residents. Social organizations from districts such as Nervión or Gran Plaza have submitted comments on the development plan. These mainly concern the impact of the investment on everyday life, as well as concerns related to traffic intensity and changes in the character of the area.

The authorities of Seville emphasize, however, that the process is transparent and that all comments will be analyzed during public consultations.

Land exchange and development of green areas in Seville

The implementation of the project requires changes in land ownership structure. The city will transfer land necessary for the stadium expansion, while Sevilla FC has committed to handing over more than 10,000 square meters at its training base for public purposes.

A new green space will be created in this area, which will be incorporated into the city’s recreational system. This solution makes it possible to maintain a balance between the development of sports infrastructure and the need to increase green areas in Seville.

Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán as a project of the city of Seville

The modernization of Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán is presented not only as a sports investment, but as a comprehensive urban project. The authorities emphasize that its implementation is important for the entire Seville, both economically and socially.

A modern stadium, integrated with its surroundings and open to residents, is expected to become a symbol of the city’s development and ambitions. If the project is implemented as planned, it may significantly influence the image of Seville and its position on the map of European sports and tourist centers.
