Spain: 80,000 fans at Camp Nou this year! Barcelona completes the third tier The return of big-time Barcelona to Camp Nou is getting closer. Spotify Camp Nou could host up to 80,000 fans again this year, marking one of the most significant moments of the entire redevelopment.

Third tier assembly completed

Barcelona has achieved one of the key milestones in the redevelopment of Spotify Camp Nou. The installation of prefabricated stands on the entire third tier has been completed, including the final section of the Gol Sud, which remained to be closed off. This is a significant progress, as it marks the conclusion of another major structural phase. In the near future, contractors will focus on sealing the stands. The installation of seats will only be possible after the end of the current season.

The return of fans to Spotify Camp Nou is planned to be gradual. According to the schedule, the lateral section of the third tier will be the first to open, which is expected to happen at the end of September. Along with it, VIP boxes in this part of the stadium will also be available. This will be the first highest-level zone opened to the public. Once opened, the venue's capacity is expected to increase to around 70,000 spectators.

Up to 80,000 seats by end of year

The process will not stop there. The club assumes that by the end of the year, further sections of the third tier will be operational, including part of the Tribuna and the VIP boxes located in this area. If the works proceed according to schedule, the number of available seats will then rise to approximately 80,000.

The Gol Nord and Gol Sud sections are expected to be ready last. They will finalize the entire process of commissioning the third tier of the stands. Currently, it is assumed that this will happen in the spring of 2027. Thus, Barcelona is getting closer to completing one of the most important elements of the entire investment.

After stands comes roof

The next major phase of the redevelopment will be the roof installation. These works are set to begin after the end of the 2026/27 season. Some pillars have already been erected, but the roof installation itself will be much more complicated. Carrying out this stage will require the use of the pitch area. Because of this, the assembly cannot take place during the season. According to experts consulted by the club, the entire process could take about four months.

Barcelona authorities are also considering a contingency plan. If the schedule for the roof works proves too tight, the club may negotiate with city authorities about the possibility of using Olímpic Lluís Companys on Montjuïc hill once again.
