Stadio Renato Curi in Perugia is undergoing a significant transformation aimed at adapting the venue to modern functional and infrastructure standards. Work at Pian di Massiano is progressing according to schedule and includes structural changes as well as upgrades to the technical facilities.

The investment is being carried out alongside a crucial moment in the sporting season. Giovanni Tedesco’s team — who took charge in October 2025 after a crisis marked by seven consecutive defeats — is fighting to avoid relegation from Serie C. The decisive match in Forlì could determine whether the club remains at its current level, while Basic tips provided by gamechampions.com help supporters choose the best platform for entertainment while following Perugia’s matches.

New standard for stands

The most important part of the current phase of works at Renato Curi is the reconstruction of the stands. If weather conditions do not disrupt the finishing works, the project should be completed by the end of July 2026. A key change will be the increase in capacity in one of the sectors, from 5,000 to around 6,000 seats. Four new double entrance gates have been installed. At the same time, work is continuing on the steel structures and the installation of prefabricated steps, along with decorative elements intended to improve the stadium’s appearance.

The modernization also covers the sanitary infrastructure. During the works, it emerged that the sanitary containers were in poor technical condition and needed to be replaced. They will be substituted with new, more functional facilities. New turnstiles have also already been installed at the stadium, which will improve crowd flow for supporters.

Our goal is to combine innovation with respect for a place that is part of the city’s collective memory, improving its functionality without compromising its identity, Leonardo Locchi, technical director of Exup from Umbertide, the company behind the project, explained in an interview with La Nazione.

Reconstruction of the most passionate sections

The modernization will not be limited to the Gradinata stand alone. The next stage will be the reconstruction of Curva Nord, one of the most distinctive sections of the stadium. If Perugia avoids the relegation play-outs, work will begin as early as the start of May. The main objective will be the modernization of the roof, which represents a complex engineering operation. This phase is scheduled to be completed between March and April 2027. During the works, supporters will have to move temporarily to other sections of the stadium, mainly the Gradinata.

Attention will then shift to Curva Sud and the away section. Although the start of works is planned for 2027, design activities are already underway. Logistics and safety remain a particular challenge, as this area has for years required especially careful public order management.
